What: June 2025 Meeting and F-35 Airfield Infrastructure: Planning, Design, & Construction Best Practices, Lessons from the Field
The F-35 has been in service for over a decade, yet less than one-third of the planned procurement has been completed for both U.S. and international customers. Despite its widespread deployment, significant gaps remain in the standards for airfield infrastructure across all F-35 variants, leading to operational and maintenance workarounds, increased hazards, and rising costs. This presentation consolidates lessons learned from planning, design, and construction of F-35 infrastructure at installations worldwide, including projects for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Air Force. By sharing these insights, we aim to support the development of best practices and consistent guidelines that improve sustainability, enhance durability, and mitigate risks—ultimately reducing costs and creating safer, more efficient operational environments
