The Pittsburgh Post intends to present three (3) annual awards: Professional of the Year; Outstanding Project of the Year; and Young Professional of the Year.

The Professional of the Year Award is presented to recognize an individual SAME member for outstanding contributions toward the improvement of the social, economic, and professional status of himself/herself and their respective profession. The individual shall have demonstrated experience consistent with the SAME mission.
The Young Professional of the Year Award identifies and recognizes an outstanding SAME member (engineer or scientist) no older than 39 at the time of application. The evaluation criteria include academic achievements, professional and technical society activities (with specific SAME involvement), engineering/scientific experience, publications or patents, major engineering/scientific project achievements, and additional activities such as civic, fraternal, or humanitarian endeavors.
The Outstanding Project of the Year Award is presented to recognize a significant project within the Pittsburgh Post area completed by a Sustaining Member firm in the prior year. The project shall have wide reaching social and economic impact to the region and have a demonstrated relationship to infrastructure improvement/sustainability, national security and the SAME mission.
