The Omaha Post Newcomers Committee held an introductory meeting at Legends in the Aksarben area on October 9th, 2025. About a dozen “seasoned SAME members” greeted the new members, presented a general briefing for the new members, including:
- SAME history, strategic goals, and functions
- Omaha Post organization and leadership
- Benefits of membership individually and for businesses
- How best to engage with SAME at the Post and other levels
This was the first of four in-person events scheduled for the 2025-26 SAME year. The next meeting is scheduled for January 22, 2026, at a SAME corporate member office in the Aksarben Village neighborhood, followed by a networking opportunity at a local restaurant. All SAME members are invited to participate in these events. Later meetings for 2026 include a technical project tour and a presentation by a government employee on how they value SAME. Both will be followed by networking opportunities; dates to be announced.
