New Careers for Transitioning Servicemembers

The 2026 SAME Career Transition Workshop, held February 11-13, 2026, welcomed jobseekers to meet with top-tier recruiters across the A/E/C industry ready to fill open positions with the real-world experiences that only military professionals can bring to the table.
Participation in 2026 CTW set a new record for attendance, with 86 job seekers looking forward to transitioning into civilian careers. Recruiters from 41 companies gathered to take advantage of the unique opportunity to meet this rich pool of talent over three days of recruitment meetings, networking, and in-person programs, which complemented the month of online training preceding the in-person event. Prior to the live event, applicants could reach out to mentors who volunteered their time to help guide jobseekers through the process and answer any questions face to face. Participants uploaded their resumes and chose interview times with the companies, agencies, or institutions they preferred. Job seekers took advantage of the opportunity to polish their resume and hone their LinkedIn descriptions, along with robust educational sessions and recruiter interviews from a wide variety of companies and agencies.
The in-person portion of the event began on Wednesday afternoon where a networking reception helped break the ice and set the stage for the event. Thursday morning kicked off the official start of the event with a welcome session led by Col. Sal Nodjomian, P.E., F.SAME (Dist.), USAF (Ret.), who set the tone for the day’s events.
For the next day and a half, participants filled scheduled interview slots, joined career educational sessions led by seasoned professionals, and took advantage of the headshot lounge to update their resumes with professional portraits. At the end of a successful day, interviewers and jobseekers joined together in a lively and packed reception.
Career Transition Workshop continues to be an outstanding connection point for professionals transitioning to new roles, allowing direct conversations with organizations looking for experienced and skilled talent. SAME and its partners are already ways to improve and expand the conference to bring together more companies with potential employees. Browse the full gallery of event photos on SAME’s Flickr page.
