Dear Post Webmaster,
I want to use this email, which is the first of what will be a quarterly newsletter from me as the SAME National Webmaster, as an opportunity to reach out to you and offer some helpful tips on how to update and maintain your websites by looking at some of the SAME Webmaster Best Practices and Website Resources/Tools.
Keeping consistently on brand and up to date with the SAME website to include all the Post websites we host is a team effort. We are One Society, and we all can leverage the website to engage members and especially non-members. Our website is the first way many non-members find us and your Post.
Best Practices
Website Bandwidth
Uploading big images and video files to the SAME website server is one of the major contributing factors to reduced speed and load time of our website. The media files take up a lot of space and negatively impact the SAME website bandwidth. In our effort to not overwhelm the website bandwidth, we encourage posts to use Flickr for their photo gallery and YouTube for their videos. The national office and some post websites are already using these services. View the SAME national office Flickr gallery and YouTube page for reference.
Events Calendar Image
We encourage posts to use images in their events posts to increase visibility. We recommend using the SAME banner for your event’s page header. Please right click on the image to download it. The image is also available to download on this page: https://www.same.org/posts-training-and-resources/.

For events image, which is added to every event in the “Set Featured Image” on the right sidebar, we recommend: 750x400px image as show in the Phoenix Post event’s example on the right:

Post Webmaster Training and Resources
The SAME Post Webmaster Training and Resources page is a dedicated page for post webmasters and other POCs. The webpage has everything every webmaster needs to know and learn about updating and maintaining their website. We will continue to update the page and add new tutorials and other resources as needed.
I will be happy to set up a meeting on MS Teams to walk you through any aspect of your website you may be having issues with after viewing the tutorials on this page.
