Our theme for the 2024 camps season was Start YOUR Stem Journey! And what a journey it has been. SAME had the privilege of welcoming 265 students and 116 mentors to the five camp installations across the United States:
- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg, Miss.
- U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, N.C.
- U.S. Naval Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, Calif.
- U.S. Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla.
- U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
It was a remarkable season of fun, including building concrete beams and dog kennels, operating drones and remote-controlled underwater vehicles, using survey equipment, conducting experiments, constructing and racing cardboard boats, and more! Learn more about the SAME Camps Program.
We can’t express our appreciation enough to all the sponsors, the SAME Foundation, SAME Posts, Camp Directors, volunteer staff and mentors, parents, and of course the AWESOME students for a great camp season.
From the first-ever SAME camp at NAS Jacksonville to the 24th year that future military engineers and STEM professionals descended in Colorado Springs for the SAME/Air Force Academy Camp, the SAME’s 2024 camps continued to make a positive impact on the futures of hundreds of high school students.

The SAME STEM Camp leadership, organization, and structure of this camp not only exceeded the expectations of our son and family but has left a long-lasting impression with Xavier to continue his passion to return to the USAFA next summer by getting selected to attend their “Summer Seminar” and eventually attend the USAFA as a Cadet in 2026.
