What: September 2026 Meeting: Pacific Island Airfield Design
Proposed Airport Improvements at Yap International Airport, Federated States of Micronesia: The Department of Works contracted the design of proposed airport improvements at the existing airport on the island of Yap to the Jacobs/Burns & McDonnell Joint Venture in support of the Pacific Deterrence Initiative. This presentation will highlight regional needs, the proposed project scope, and the unique challenges encountered while designing a major infrastructure project in a politically sensitive international location. The discussion will provide valuable insights into airfield planning, stakeholder coordination, and project delivery in the Pacific region.
