Join the SAME BRP luncheon for an exploration of design strategies that embrace innovation when designing for a place that is not your home.
Architects are often hired to design master plans and buildings in other countries. This luncheon presentation will explore design strategies and projects that establish a new language for a place that is rooted in ideas from the past, mediating between the global and local languages of architecture, and features case studies from multiple projects in the Middle East.
HOK is often hired to design master plans and buildings in other countries and has compiled best practices to relate to the most challenging aspects of these unique design considerations:
- How to relate to the local context through: climate, scale, topography, site, light, traditional/local construction techniques, local materials and textures, history and culture
