About the Webinar

The Construction COI is hosting a Report from the Field on Wednesday, October 14, 2025. This webinar will provide a general overview and update of the Polychrome Area Improvements Project, located inside Denali National Park in Alaska. The project addresses the instability of the Pretty Rocks Landslide, which has rendered 47 miles of roadway impassable, and its main scope of work includes construction of a 475-foot-long single-span bridge.

Discussion will cover preconstruction, partnering, and the positive aspects of working through a complex project via the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) process as a unified team. The CM/GC delivery method, which engages the contractor early in the design process for constructability input, provides more opportunity for innovation and efficiency than traditional delivery methods. The presenter will also share insights on the logistical complexities inherent in an ambitious project of this scale.

Presenter

Patrick Murphy, Project Manager, Granite Construction Inc.
