The March-April 2026 issue of The Military Engineer features articles on Energy Security, including a project to evaluate a waste-to-energy microgrid at Naval Air Station Key West, a study of ways installations can increase mission assurance by tapping into existing power plant assets, and a ridealong with members of the 249th Engineer Battalion (Prime Power).

The issue also features an in-depth look at the historic salvage and recovery effort following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in March 2024. Through extensive multi-agency collaboration to recover from this once-in-a-lifetime disaster, the program was able to restore access to the Port of Baltimore in just 76 days. We also continue our multi‑part series on the rebuild of Tyndall AFB following Hurricane Michael, with the fourth article in the series detailing the sequencing and reconstruction as the base built back to its envisioned position as an Installation of the Future.
