APCOI Journal
The Architectural Practice Community of Interest publishes a Journal twice a year. Once prior to JETC and once prior to SBC. The purpose of the Journal is to provide a forum to share APCOI events, mentoring and growth opportunities for architects, technical content focused on solutions for federal facilities, and inspiration for the members of SAME and beyond. We hope you enjoy the journal and encourage you to submit content by contacting the editor.
The mission of the Architectural Practice Committee is to promote architectural practice within SAME, broaden the organization’s exposure in the architectural community, increase the role of architecture within military/federal facilities, and recruit more architects, along with expanding networking and mentoring opportunities.

Controlled Hydraulic Fracturing for Delivery of mZVI in Low Permeability Settings
Zero-valent iron (ZVI) is a proven amendment for in-situ chemical reduction of chlorinated solvents, and hydraulic fracturing is particularly well-suited for delivering high mass loadings of microscale ZVI (mZVI) into low-permeability and heterogeneous formations. -

Historic Legacy of Ft. Bliss
Fort Bliss was established in 1848 to protect settlers against Apache and Comanche raids. The Fort was designed and developed by Assistant Quartermaster Captain George Ruhlen, Chief Clerk Edward H. Offley, and architect/civil engineer F.A. Gartner. It is best known for its Queen Anne row of officer’s housing and its Spanish Colonial Revival barracks.
I love to serve the Society with my fellow SAME architects for such a good cause and along the way develop a strong bond both professionally and personally with these people. I can truly call them my friends.
