Community Mission
The mission of the SAME Infrastructure Readiness Community of Interest is to enhance the efficient, effective, and sustainable stewardship of federal/military facilities. The COI achieves this by connecting defense and industry leaders with those seeking knowledge in asset management, providing a collaborative platform for sharing resources, technologies, and strategies that support informed decision-making and risk management. Through research, advocacy, and professional development, the COI helps address current and future challenges in facility management to ensure long-term success.
With an ever-evolving international landscape, ensuring the readiness of U.S. infrastructure, including mission-critical facilities, systems, and power projection platforms is essential to achieving national security objectives.
COI Objectives
- Foster Knowledge-Sharing: Provide a platform for Department of Defense and industry leaders to exchange knowledge, resources, and best practices in asset management (AM).
- Promote Collaboration: Facilitate partnerships between industry, government agencies, and FAM thought leaders to address the challenges posed by constrained funding, hybrid workspaces, and extreme weather impacts.
- Expand Learning Opportunities: Offer a variety of forums, including webinars, the FAM Session Track, and the FAM Forum at JETC, for continuous learning and professional development.
- Leverage Cutting-Edge Technologies: Collaborate through the SAME Geospatial Working Group on advanced technologies such as digital surveying, 3D modeling, and site picture generation.
- Support a National Asset Management Mission: Engage in the ongoing national effort to enhance asset management practices and drive innovation across industries.

SAME Strategic Partners – Learn More
SAME chartered a National IGE project in 2021 to specify what should be done to increase mission assurance and mitigate the impacts of cyberattacks to military facilities and infrastructure. The IGE project comprised subject matter experts representing federal agencies, A/E/C companies, nonprofits, and CS/OT cyber protection companies. This team coalesced emerging industry best practices into written guidance augmenting UFC-specific design and construction actions to enhance protections in both IT/OT interfaces and CPS/human interfaces. In 2023, the IGE delivered recommendations to improve federal policies for CS/OT security and strengthen current and future federal planning, design, or installation operations.
