Alignment Out West
On Sept. 9-10, the San Francisco Post is partnering with Stanford University’s Center for Integrated Facility Engineering to host the Federal AI Summit: AI for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction. As the event’s website describes, “AI is reshaping how federal infrastructure is designed, built, and maintained—and the window to get ahead of it is now.”

Over the last year, SAME has undertaken a National IGE Project to examine artificial intelligence adoption as it relates to planning, design, engineering, construction, and operations and maintenance. The initiative has explored both opportunities and challenges, levels of implementation, and best practices from use-cases while also looking broadly at friction points due to policy and regulatory landscapes. The Federal AI Summit that will be held in September is aligned with the AI IGE Project—members involved in the planning have been coordinating closely with the project team. While this iteration at Stanford is a first for the event, there already is optimism that it could scale in the ensuing years especially given the proximity to Silicon Valley.
