Register Today for the Inaugural IGE Summit at Capital Week 2023

At this year’s Capital Week, being held March 27-29, 2023, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Rockville, Md., don’t miss the just added post-conference SAME Industry-Government Engagement (IGE) Summit “Construction: A Contact Sport.” This special event, hosted by SAME’s Construction Task Force, will bring together owners, designers, decision-makers, and thought leaders from government, industry, and academia to discuss three timely topics affecting project delivery today.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be in the room where senior and executive leaders across public and private sectors come together to develop multidisciplined solutions to the major challenges facing the construction sector.

CONSTRUCTION: A CONTACT SPORT

Successful construction projects are a contact sport: lots of communication as well as lots of pushing and shoving between the owner and the designer and construction teams. While the goal is to work collaboratively and transparently to deliver projects that balance risk and benefit the client and contractor equally, today we see projects delivered late, over-budget, and with systemic quality issues far too often. The inability to consistently deliver federal construction projects on schedule, budget, and with the highest quality is a growing national security threat for our nation.

Members discuss around a table

This inaugural IGE Summit at Capital Week offers a chance for members to partner across sectors and collaborate on three topics, with the aim of reversing this trend. The summit will include an in-briefing outlining each topic, collaborative breakout discussions examining each topic, and a final gathering to outbrief each panel’s findings and recommendations.

The Shrinking Federal Contractor Base: How can we reverse the trend and commit to the necessary investments and changes in procurement policies needed to incentivize and retain the best A-Es and general contractors?

Got Risk: How to improve current project delivery methods: Can solving inequitable risk sharing practices increase the speed of trust?

Can we afford the consequences of not making changes?: The U.S. tends to lead the globe in expending blood and treasure. Can we continue to absorb the readiness and capability impacts of late, costly projects ultimately affecting our national defense and economic objectives?

Additional registration is required for the IGE Summit. Visit the IGE Summit page on the Capital Week website for more information on the Summit and to register. If you have already registered for Capital Week, contact registration@same.org and ask to have the IGE Summit added to your registration.
